It sounded like the cable was going to be Apple-branded which it isn’t. Like the title says it doesn’t work any differently than my old charger, and has all the features like the orange/green power LED and the ability to swap out the cord or prongs from the transformer (both of the official Mac accessories work with the charger too). Basically the only difference I noticed was there wasn’t an Apple logo on the side and I paid 3x less than Steve Jobs wanted me to for what seems to be the same product. The wire casing seems to be a little more solid too so hopefully it won’t fray and break like my old charger, but only time will tell on that one.

This works well as a spare charger to put in another room, or as an emergency backup charger, but I would not use it as a full time replacement for the Apple brand one. It’s a different voltage than Apple’s which means there is a slight change of messing up your battery if you were to use it as a permanent charger. Just get the Apple brand one, it’s more expensive but better. (You can get them about half price online)

Wanted a spare to use when we travel with out laptop. Wanted to just “unhook” the original at the computer, put the computer in its travel bag and go, leaving the spare in the bag to use on the road. Works fine for this. Seems lighter then the original. Doesn’t seem to get hot as some reviewers have noted with some of these replacements. All in all, am pleased and pleasantly surprised with this item.
